Our time in LA has come to an end... (for now). Shanda and the girls are boarding their flight back to Indianapolis today! This was a very productive trip. We met some great people, had fun at several beaches, saw part of the Hollywood premier of The Watch, and recorded background vocals for the upcoming CD release for Those Acoustic Kats! Marissa & Mychala can't wait to return in January 2013 to work with our new managers at Stein Entertainment Group and a
Today Marissa & Mychala are attending a workshop with Ani of Bruce Newberg Casting....one of the busiest tv offices in LA!! They've done casting for "The Closer", "Hellcats", "Major Crimes", "First Cut"....she and Bruce both are very big on bringing in new talent!! May have some studio time on Wednesday with Erron Jay. Erron Jay & Erick Richardson make up the dynamic music duo Those Acoustic Kats! Check them out on Facebook! We had an amazing time visiting with the One and Only Erron Jay at the Loews Hotel in downtown Hollywood! Erron recently completed a few pilot TV shows with Cedric The Entertainer! Love this guy! Check out other cool pics of our visit with Erron on our Facebook Page HERE. Jeffrey We had a great meeting today with Superstar Manager Myrna Lieberman!! We met her at her home on the Hollywood Hills. Her back yard literally backs up to the huge Hollywood sign! She gave us honest feedback on what Marissa and Mychala need to work on to be ready to work in Hollywood. Our plan is to come back for pilot season in late January. Find out more about Myrna at http://www.talentmanagers.org/webcard.php?member_id=86. This Wonderful lady was my saving grace today!! I was last in a long line of people trying to reschedule our CANCELED flight. The thought that I would make it to LA on time was fading quickly as I listens to the previous customers getting booked out til 7pm today! Most everyone had already rescheduled for the next available flight BUT ME! I had spoken to customer service on the phone twice since learning of the cancelation and didn't secure my "late flight". Again, I was dead last and walked up to this angel and he asked what time I'd booked for my next flight. I told her I didn't and she had a look in her face that made me lose hope of even flying out today! She started looking and saw a 7pm flight. I explained my situation and said (as did several others before me) that I had a very important meeting at 1:00 I needed to be at. She asked if I was willing to fly into another airport, to which I said yes. She said she could get me into Long Beach by 3:30pm. It wasn't what I'd hoped for, but I said "Book It" please!! Then she picked up the phone and called someone named John. She smiled and clicked away on her computer. I texted Shanda that I wouldn't be making the meeting and to let me know how it went. The lady smiled again and said John booked me on a flight that was already full. She said they were going to PAY another passenger to get bumped so I could get on the next flight to LA! The best part is I would land by 12 noon!!! Thank you Lord!! I almost jumped over the counter and kissed this woman!! Seriously! My new flight had to take me to Charlotte, NC first, then back to LA, but I didn't care if it was to China if it meant I was gonna make it to the meeting with my family! So I'm on the flight as I type to LA and will land in the next 90 mins or so! Thank God for In-flight Internet too! Sorry this post is so long, but I had to Testify to somebody!!! So, Shanda and the girls have had a few extra days of fun without Dad. But soon it will be MY turn! I had to remain in Lafayette a few extra days for work related reasons, but bright and early Monday I'll be on a plane headed west. Wish us luck! Marissa & Mychala will be attending some great workshops throughout their time there. We found this great company called Actors Syndicate that offers acting workshops for only $30-40 each. The best part is each workshop is taught by a Casting Director. They work with you individually or in pairs to go over a script. They'll offer advice and critic your style to give you the best opportunity to land your roles. So being in front of these people are key to finding work. The CD's are always in the middle of casting TV shows and films. So timing is great. Check out http://actorssyndicate.com/ for more info (if you're in Los Angeles). Monday will likely be our most exciting day as plan to meet up with on of Hollywood's most sought after Talent Managers! This is the next step in our journey. More to come on that tomorrow! Have a blessed Sunday! Jeffrey What..? For real lady?!? I wish I could say this was a first, but unfortunately it's not! So I'm dropping off Shanda and the girls at the Indianapolis Int'l Airport for their flight to LA. The lady behind the counter asks if the "3 girls" are my daughters!?! Ha ha... Real funny lady. Good thing I'm not sensitive about things like that! Oh, its good for Shanda but maybe I need real life photoshop!! |
